A Day In The Life With Four Boys

This day in the life is brought to you by a weekend because I still have to work all week and don't get much time with my boys then. The struggles of being a working mom.

I get asked often what it's like to have four boys. I know it probably seems like a lot to most people but it's just every day life for us. So here is a glimpse into a typical Saturday.

6:00 a.m.

Someone's up. And then everyone's up because that someone is usually very loud. My husband and I try to wipe the sleep from our eyes before we get tackled in bed by the big boys. We all get ready and downstairs for breakfast. Coffee is my best friend at this moment.

8:00 a.m.

We clean up the breakfast chaos, calm a couple of tantrums, and get asked what are we going to do today a million times. We usually try to get out of the house to do something to get the energy out. Sometimes we go to the park other times we go on a bigger adventure like the zoo.

11:00 a.m.

We tend to eat an early lunch because all the boys are hungry all the time. Let's just say, they get a bit hangry (I wonder who they get that from). We try to eat at home when we can, but we may eat out if we are still out in town. At this point in life, eating out is more stressful than it's worth to me.

1:00 p.m.

We've made it to nap time some how some way! Of course, the older two don't nap anymore so we enjoy "quiet time". I put quiet time in quotation marks because there really is nothing quiet about it.

3:00 p.m.

Everyone is up and had a snack. Right now is just survival mode. I try to limit screen time so we play a lot of games. Spend time outside when we can. The boys love to play together and fight together as well.

5:30 p.m.

It's dinner time and then clean up time. We try to eat as a family every night. It's messy, it's loud, but it's also some of my favorite times. After dinner we do a quick clean up to try to maintain the mess. Then we do let the boys watch some t.v. so we can all just unwind. My oldest is the only one that really enjoys the t.v. for long though. So most nights, you'll find the younger three off playing again at the table while the oldest is glued to the t.v.

7:00 p.m.

We made it! It's bed time. Some nights are smooth-ish and other nights are pure chaos, but we get through each one. I read with my boys each night and while I'm in this moment, I know it will be the one I miss the most when they no longer want mom to tuck them in at night.

So there you have it. Life with these four boys is loud, sticky, and the best thing in the world to me!

It's chaos but it's ours and it's so, so good. <3
